No: 57, 26 February 2023, Press Release Regarding the 31st Anniversary of the Khojaly Massacre
On 26 February 1992, as a result of the attacks by the Armenian armed forces on Khojaly town in Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, 613 innocent Azerbaijani civilians, including many women, children and elders, were massacred, hundreds of Azerbaijani citizens were wounded and more than a thousand people were taken captive. The fate of the missing persons remains unknown even to this day.
Today, we still feel in our hearts the pain of our Azerbaijani brothers and sisters who were massacred in Khojaly 31 years ago. We strongly condemn this massacre, which is a crime against humanity that will leave a permanent stain in history.
We wish Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives in the Khojaly Massacre and once again extend our condolences to the beloved Azerbaijani people.
